St. Paul’s Waccamaw Methodist Church is one of several churches contributing food to the Baskervill Food Pantry. This outreach is a ministry of Holy Cross Faith Memorial Episcopal Church in collaboration with area churches, community and civic organizations. Its mission is to provide supplemental food, as well as nutrition education to people of Georgetown County who are food insecure while promoting community awareness of food insecurity. The need for food is greater than ever—the Pantry provides over 370 bags of food per month (one per family once per month) which feeds over 1,000 people per month.

Although your donations of money and food are welcome at any time, we designate the last Sunday of the month as “Peanut Butter and Chicken Sunday.” Jars of peanut butter and cans of chicken will become a part of the protein foods supplied by the Pantry and can be deposited in collection boxes in the vestibule as you come to church. Chicken is needed more than PB as one can goes into every bag of groceries. The preferred size for chicken is 12.5 oz (and 1 lb. jars for PB). If it’s more convenient, the Mission Committee will gladly do the shopping for you—we are always on the lookout for bargains, and will make the most of your money.  Simply deposit your monetary contributions in the specially marked jar and PRESTO, it’s done!

For those needing food, the Pantry is open Monday–Friday 9:00am–12:00 and Thursday 4:30–6:30. It is physically located on the campus of Holy Cross Faith Memorial Episcopal Church adjacent to the Smith Medical Clinic. A person coming to the Pantry needing food assistance only needs a photo ID.

Thank you, together we are making a difference!
